Its been a busy holiday period @ The LAN Mine and we are long past due for a news update! So here it is...

The Zombie Mod for Call Of Duty 5: World at War has been getting some serious attention from LAN Mine Gamers.

For those of you not in the know....Once the single player campaign has been completed players will gain access to the mode which sends waves of Nazi Zombie adversaries in the players direction. The mode sports an economy system which allows players to purchase new weapons and rebuild barricades to slow down the zombie rush. The game is run in co-op mode and can field 2-4 players.... Now it may sound simple but it is seriously addictive and highly amusing.

A big booh-yah goes out to Serge, David, Ben and Ethan who hold the records for 2, 3 and 4 player modes at level 24, 23 and an incredible level 26. According to Internet sources the games developers only made it to level 23 before the release.

The boys think their level 26 record is 'unbeatable'..can you prove them wrong?

We are also experiencing a big DoTA revival @ The LAN Mine.

Again for thos not in the know...Defence of The Ancients (DoTA) is a custome scenario for Warcraft III, based on the "Aeon of Strife" map for StarCraft. The objective of the scenario is to destroy the opponents' "Ancient". The two teams' ancients are heavily guarded structures at opposing corners of the map. Players use powerful units known as heroes, and are assisted by allied heroes and AI-controlled fighters called "creeps".

Again it sounds simple but requires chess like strategy to be employed to become a master.

We had a couple of 3v3 shuffled player single draft matches on Saturday the 7th of Feburary. With Gavin(Malboro) dominating...winning his pool and overall while Chris(Horny) dominated the second Pool.

We are also playing a weekly (Tuesdays @ 7pm) Truerank (Inter-cafe) 5v5 XL mode DoTA comp. With some players only having limited availability we are still looking for some players.... give us a call if you want in!

No we haven't decided to start casting for a Beckett play but PC gamers may be starting to believe they would do anything 'to hold the terrible silence at bay' on the PC Gaming front.

The carrots are dangling with Blizzards titles like Diablo III and Starcraft II in the wings but both games seem to have been in production for an eternity and while release dates are thrown around ... they seem to be endlessly pushed back.

When will the wait be over? Who knows...I for one am going to continue with current favorites like CoD4 and classics like CS:S and keep my fingers crossed.
